Course Overview
Industrial facilities rely heavily on the continuous and safe operation of critical electrical equipment, including transformers, switchgear, circuit breakers, and electric motors. A sudden failure in any of these components can lead to costly production downtime, safety hazards, and expensive repairs.
This masterclass is designed to equip maintenance engineers, technicians, and facility managers with the advanced skills required to implement effective preventive and predictive maintenance strategies. Delegates will gain a deep understanding of electrical equipment behavior, diagnostic testing methods, and lifecycle management.
Through practical examples and real-world troubleshooting scenarios, participants will learn how to systematically identify faults, interpret testing data accurately, and ensure that all maintenance activities comply with the latest electrical safety standards.
Learning Outcomes
By the end of this 2-day program, delegates will be able to:
- Understand the operating principles of key electrical equipment (transformers, motors, switchgear).
- Implement robust preventive and predictive maintenance (PdM) schedules.
- Perform and interpret essential diagnostic tests (e.g., Insulation Resistance, DGA, Megger testing).
- Apply systematic troubleshooting methodologies to isolate and repair complex electrical faults.
- Identify early warning signs of equipment degradation to avoid catastrophic failures.
- Integrate electrical safety best practices and arc flash awareness into daily maintenance routines.
Course Outline
Day 1 — Transformers, Switchgear & Preventive Maintenance
- Fundamentals of electrical equipment and power distribution systems
- Transformer maintenance: Oil analysis (DGA), cooling systems, and lifecycle extension
- Switchgear and circuit breakers: Inspection, testing, and operational safety
- Developing effective preventive and predictive maintenance strategies
- Case studies: Analyzing major equipment failures and root causes
Day 2 — Motors, Drives & Systematic Troubleshooting
- Electric motor diagnostics: Vibration analysis, thermal imaging, and electrical testing
- Understanding and troubleshooting Variable Frequency Drives (VFDs)
- Systematic fault-finding techniques and root cause analysis for electrical circuits
- Electrical safety: Lockout/Tagout (LOTO), arc flash hazards, and PPE requirements
- Interactive workshop: Developing a maintenance roadmap for your facility
Certificates
Upon successful completion of the onsite masterclass, an InduLead Certificate of Completion will be awarded to all delegates.
